World renowned primatologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall spoke to a capacity crowd at Bucknell University yesterday evening, recounting her groundbreaking chimpanzee field research, the creation of Roots & Shoots, and her reasons for hope that humans ultimately will adopt the sustainable lifestyles critical to saving our planet.
During her presentation, Dr. Goodall expressed her concern about the survival of rhinos. She asked the audience to do whatever is needed to save these magnificent creatures, and also took a little time to pose with the International Rhino Foundation’s Sumatran rhino “mascot”.  Experts believe that no more than 100 Sumatran rhinos survive in the rain forests of Indonesia, where Rhino Protection Units help keep them safe from poachers.

  1. My 11-year-old daughter took one look at the picture of Dr. Goodall and said, “Hey, that’s Jane Goodall!” Just an indication of what a prominent figure she is in animal conservation. We’re lucky to have her educating the public on endangered species.
