Today only — Double your impact and help us protect more rhinos.
“I hope to see the day when rhinos can live in the wild without fear of poachers.”
“When I learned of the plight of rhinos and the senseless reason for which they are killed, I was motivated to help in any way I can.”
“Because our children deserve a future with rhinos in it.”
These are just a few of the reasons you, our supporters, gave when we asked you why you contribute to IRF. The responses are thoughtful and caring.
Today, on #GivingTuesday, we want to thank you for your commitment to protecting rhinos and other endangered species that share their habitat. Your support has had tremendous impact.
With your help, we’ve rescued orphaned rhinos in Zimbabwe and built new guard posts for rangers in South Africa. We’ve expanded the habitat for the world’s only population of Javan rhinos, and successfully established a captive breeding program for the Sumatran rhino. We’ve worked with law enforcement to apprehend and convict poachers in India, and funded local campaigns to reduce demand for rhino horn in Vietnam, the fastest-growing rhino horn market.
Please consider donating to IRF today to extend your impact even further. This Giving Tuesday your gift will be doubled, up to $15,000, by a match from another generous IRF donor.
Four of the five remaining rhino species are threatened; three of those are critically endangered. Two species – Javan and Sumatran rhinos – number less than 100 individuals each. The threats facing rhinos are great, but our steadfast commitment to their survival is greater. Both white and Indian rhinos numbered fewer than 200 at the beginning of the 20th Century and through coordinated efforts have been brought back to 20,000 and 5,550 individuals. We know how to save rhinos. We’ve done it before, and with your help, we can do it again.
We are enormously grateful for your support. Together, we can do great things!
