Happy Mother’s Day to Rhino Mom, Ratu
Happy Mother’s Day! We’re celebrating all moms today, but especially Sumatran rhino mom, Ratu. Please enjoy this video from our Virtual Cinco de Rhino event where we did a live reading of the book “One Special Rhino: The Story of Andatu.” This book about Andatu and his mom Ratu was written and illustrated by students at PS 107 John W. Kimball Learning Center in Brooklyn, New York. Isabelle, a student from PS 107, and her father read us this story along with IRF’s Deputy Director, CeCe Sieffert, and her daughter. We also learn the story behind the book and the amazing contributions to rhino conservation made by PS 107’s ‘Beast Relief Committee.’
Ratu is the ultimate rhino mom, you can also see her with her second calf, Delilah, here in this special VR360 video taken by BBC Earth at the SRS. Take a look around – you feel like you’re in the jungle with them!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there! You can learn more about rhino moms here.
